We, the creators of the Brauer Brewday watch, see our product as a tool watch to help homebrewers around the world in their hobby and passion. Here you can see our thoughts and ideas about its use during a standard brew day.
Recipe reading
Often you would like to use a homebrew recipe, but it is not given in your metric system. How many grams are 1.8 oz of hops and how many pounds are 4.5 kg of malt? Brauer Brewdays gives you the unique ability to instantly convert almost all homebrew related units of measure from metric to imperial and vice versa. Weights, Volumes, Specific Gravity, Alcohol, Pressure - 14 units of measure based on logarithmic scale conversions on your wrist without the need for a smartphone, apps, computer, websites, etc.
Mashing
You can use either the Brauer Brewday's Chronograph feature or the Countdown bezel to measure mashing step times. The other option is to use the chronograph for the total mashing time and the countdown bezel for each scheduled step time.
Boiling and Hop Additions
While during mashing you could extend the time of some steps and it would probably not make a significant difference in the quality of the final product, when adding hops during boiling you need to be precise. That is why Brauer Brewday is equipped with a specially designed countdown bezel that helps you measure the remaining time of pre-set periods up to 90 minutes. This is all you need to start boiling! Simply set the boil time at the start of the boil and the Brauer Brewday will tell you when it is time to add the next hop. At 70 minutes for bittering hops per 80 minutes boil, at 15 minutes for the first aromatic hop addition and so on. It will guide you minute by minute until the end of the boil.
Yeast rehydration
If your dry yeast requires rehydration, or you typically brew this way, you know that it is very important to follow the yeast rehydration time instructions provided by the yeast manufacturer. You can use both of Brauer Brewday's timers - the Chronometer and the Countdown bezel - to measure the correct yeast rehydration time.
Fermentation and Carbonation
Brewing homebrew doesn't end on your Brewday - there are subsequent processes that are typically measured in days. You can use the date indicator on your Brauer Brewday watch to count primary fermentation days, secondary fermentation and lagering days, bottle or keg carbonation days - just set the date to 31st at the beginning of the process and you will have on your wrist the progress of the process.
In addition, the Brauer Brewday watch has a function to calculate the alcohol content of the brewed beer (ABV) based on the difference in SG points between OG and FG.
